Portraits Etc.

In this gallery you'll find portraits of characters from movies and novels, as well as some historical pieces, comic covers, or simply art that I thought would fit well with this medium.
Burning on traditional buckskin creates a 3D surface which, with the right lighting, makes the art "pop" out.

Each piece is done entirely by hand, burned and then painted with natural pigments and primitive tools. Every artwork is absolutely one-of-a-kind.
Comic Book Covers

I recently decided to try recreating classic comic book covers. It's been a lot of fun and I plan on making many more. Check these out, and let me know if you have ideas for other covers I should do!

Credit for the original art (which I reproduced in buckskin) is given in each individual photo.

Portraits

Portraits of commissions or some of my favorite characters. Portraits are difficult even drawing on paper, but when dealing with a medium that shifts and moves they are doubly so. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
But I love the challenge.

Historical Pieces

These are pieces that are of a more "historical" nature, not related to pop culture.

I enjoy finding artwork that would not only look good on buckskin, but the material will add some thought provoking depth to it.

For example, putting ancient Cave Art or star maps on buckskin, which is one of the oldest (and still valid) human technologies.
